‘Pajaritas Azules’ is an annual programme carried out by the Spanish Association of Pulp and Paper Manufacturers (ASPAPEL), whose goal is to asses, evaluate and give recognition to public administrations for the municipal selective collection of paper and cardboard for recycling.
This initiative begun in 2002 with a project called ‘Your Paper is Important’, then followed by a programme called ‘Your Paper 21’. Later on, in 2016, the same initiative was relaunched under the name of ‘Pajaritas Azules - Your Paper 21 - Districts’.
In 2007, this programme won the European Paper Recycling Awards held in Brussels, where they reward innovative projects for the promotion of paper recycling in Europe.
The Soria City Council first participated in this programme 2017 and was awarded two ‘Pajaritas’. Over the following years, 2018 through 2020, our Council was awarded three ‘Pajaritas’ per year, which is the maximum score.
